Tofukuji temple is one of the best places to visit for viewing red and yellow colored autumn leaves in Kyoto.
You can overlook about 2000 Japanese maple trees from three bridges. They are overwhelming.
These three bridges are continuation of the roofed hallway that leads away from the Hondo (main hall).
We have been there at the end of November before.To tell the truth, it was not the best timing. It was a little too late.
Still, dark red colored maple leaves were beautiful like above photo.
It was the best timing to enjoy the view from the end of the bridges to exit.
Yellow and red colored maple leaves were very beautiful and the fallen leaves on the ground were like various colored carpet.

The garden of Tofukuji temple is well known as the representative of modern Zen gardens.
This garden is created by Mirei Shigemori in 1939. It is a mixture of simplicity and fortitude in Kamakura period (1185-1333) and the element of modern art.
・The northern garden
This garden is checkered pattern. It is like a painting.
・The eastern garden
The Great Bear and the Milky Way is expressed by stone(column), sand, moss and hedge.
・The southern garden
Four places which a mountain hermit lives in are expressed.
・The eastern garden
Checkered pattern is expressed by Kazuraishi stone(a part of a platoform of a building in a temple) and trimming of Satuki azalea.

Tofuku-ji temple is in Higashiyama-ku in Kyoto, Japan.
○Get off JR Nara line ‘Tofukuji temple station’ or Keihan main line ‘Tofukuji temple station’ →10minutes by foot.
○Take City bus No.202,207 or 208 and get off ‘Tofukuji temple’ bus stop.
