It is new ride attraction in the minions’ area which opened on April 21th in 2017 of Universal Studios Japan.
I’ll introduce some details about “despicable me minion mayhem”.
・waiting time
This ride was just opened recently so waiting time is very long. Especially on weekends and public holidays you have to wait for a long time.
（You had better go to toilet before waiting in a line. You also need beverage for supplying water.）
When you get close to the building of ride attraction, you’ll see many displays.

This ride was just opened recently so waiting time is very long. Especially on weekends and public holidays you have to wait for a long time.
We waited there for 3 hours on Saturday in June.
Now waiting time is getting become longer even weekdays because of summer vacation for students from the end of July to the end of August.（The average waiting time is more than 2 hours! It includes the vacant time just before the end of this ride attraction.）
If you don’t have enough time to wait, you had better go there on weekdays after summer vacation season.

We have already been in a long line before here! Inside is like this but we had to go outside soon.

・Route to ride attraction
Here is the image of building “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem”.
When you get close to the building of ride attraction, you’ll see many displays.
Here you can see the video “You can be a minion, too! Some questions to be a minion.” or you can see some scenes of real movies. These will pump you up!
From here you still have to endure long line. Finally, you down the stairs, pass through a corridor and go inside the building.
After enter numbered door, it is Gru’s laboratory. Gru have been studying how to change people to minions! Now he found the way. You can be a minion.
Pass through this room and go next room.
There’s a small displays in the room just before ride attraction. You’ll see the unique minions’ video about the notes of this ride attraction.
・What is this ride like?
To tell the truth, this attraction is made by refurbishing “back to the future” attraction.
So the ride or vehicle is similar to previous 8-passenger De Lorean. (Although it is completely renewal.)
After boarding, the ride goes up and it will be surrounded by dome-shaped screen like planetarium.
This is the story that you join the training to be a minion. You have to run and hop with Gru’s three daughters. You can also see lots of minions.
・Notes and limit:
Guests must be at least 122 cm tall (if unaccompanied) to experience this attraction, or at least 102 cm tall if accompanied by an escort.
From here you still have to endure long line. Finally, you down the stairs, pass through a corridor and go inside the building.
