Let's make Onigiri (Japanese Rice balls)_easiest recipe

Onigiri( Rice Balls) – the name comes from the way it is made.
We squeeze a portion of rice when we make Onigiri.

I have already written how to cook rice easily.Please check the last article.
After you prepare cooked rice, this is the easiest way to make Onigiri.

1. Cut food wrap into 30cm×30cm piece and put it on a table.

2. Place cooked rice on it.

3. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over it.

*If you can get Furikake (rice seasoning) , you can use it. Or make a dent in the center of rice, and put tuna (or scramble egg anything you like) with mayonnaise.


4. Twist remained wrap tightly.

Ready to eat !

Nowadays the number of people making Onigiri is decreasing , but we usually make Onigiri with bare hands.

Reference:

1. Typically, we use salt and water separately but making salt water is easier.

water : 30cc salt: 5cc  Mix well and dissolve it.

2. Spread salt water the palm of both hands.

3. Put rice on one hand and make traiangle shape with the other hand. Then press your hands for an instant, then loosen your hands. Repeat about three times rhythmically.

4. Turn around Onigiri to the other side. Then repeat No.3. Next, doing only one or two times is enough. And turn around again and do same thing.
5. Ready to eat !

Note: If you don’t eat Onigiri soon, it depends on the area’s climate but you had better preserve it in a refrigerator.

If you visit Japan, you can buy many kinds of Onigiri in convenience stores or at supermarkets.
